THE SOLAR
DICTIONARY

No matter how long you have played this Game, you have heard
the words. Maynard, Leptic,
Loopy Tree, and I KNOW what you are
thinking.... What EXACTLY do those words mean? Well you may know
or you may THINK you know, but for better or worse after today
there will be no doubt, for without further ado I am happy to
present (AGAIN) the SOLAR DICTIONARY:
BEAT DOWN:
v. To attack and subdue an opponent to the point that they are
incapable of retaliating. (see Blow Up).
BLOW UP: v.
1) To attack and kill an opponent. 2) To devastate an enemy or
monster (e.g. "I Blew Up that troll GOOD!).
CAPPED: v.
To have accumulated enough gold to reach the maximum build allowed
in a giving time period. (e.g. "That Fairy Dragon had enough gold
to cap ALL our newbies" )
CHEESEBALL:
n. 1) A person who does not play by the i rules of the game. 2)
Some one who cheats 3) A PRIME candidate for a Beat
Down.
CHEESY:
adj. 1) To behave like a Cheeseball
2) To break the rules of the game flagrantly. 3) To cheat. 4)
To invite a Beat Down for the aforementioned
offenses.
DOUGHNUT:
n. 1) A clueless person. 2) Much like the shape of a traditional
donut--a zero, one who contributes nothing.
DOUGGERNAUT:
n. 1) An outrageously powerful or competent monster or NPC. 2)
ANY monster played by Doug Johnson.
DREAM SEQUENCE:
v. 1) Rewriting and encounter because SOMEONE screwed up… The
GREAT DO-OVER. 2) Retroactive continuity, or changing your character
history to fit your present needs. (e.g. "You mean you are SECRETLY
a race-changed Drae Matron!!?!?")
EP BASHING:
v. To spend endless hours attacking ANYTHING that leaves
monster town in an attempt to collect as much coin as possible.
FWEE: adj.
Foolish or goofy, particularly in a flighty manner. Derived from
the noises those fake Star Trek phasers make.
GACK:
v. To kill.
GOOBERMANCER:
n. A particularly offensive breed of player that could
pass as an extra from the movie "Deliverance". (e.g. "I call forth
a flame-bolt, I call forth a 'nother 'un" spoken in an OUTRAGEOUS
southern accent.)
GROSS:
adj. 1) VERY powerful; heinous. 2) Unbalancing
to game play. (See Douggernaut)
HALF-STEP
SHUFFLE: Also, The Half-Speed Shuffle. v. 1) To be
animated as a zombie. 2) To move at half speed due to becoming
lesser undead. (e.g. "Back of man or you'll be doing the Half-step
shuffle!)
HEINOUS: adj.
1) To possess GREAT power. (e.g, "That monster was HEINOUS!) 2)
To be COOL. ( e.g. "Where did you get those boots? They are HEINOUS!")
JYNX TRAP:
n. Something shiny (though not necessarily valuable) located anywhere
inconvenient. A close relative to the Lann
Trap.
KACK:
v. To kill.
KASAGI FADE:
v. 1) To disappear without notice. 2) to hide in a
crowd despite one's distinguishing characteristics. 3) To leave
an after-image in the Nine Winds Tavern so that people speak to
you after you've left.
LANN TRAP:
n. Something valuable and shiny located behind three wards. A
close relative to the Jynx Trap.
LAW-NAZI: n.
A particularly FERVENT follower of the forces of law, especially
one who cannot see any alternative point of view.
LEPTIC:
n. A person incapable of performing mundane day- to-day tasks
with ANY level of proficiency.
LICHE HUNT:
v. To stand in the middle of a trail and kill the first person
you encounter. Immortalized by the official "Alho Rengate
Wild Liche Safari" of 592.
LOOPY: v.
A state of being reached after long periods of sleep deprivation,
resulting in foolish behavior, Often this behavior will lead to
games of "Porch of Doom" and "Hide and Go Slay."
LOOPY TREE:
n. The next stage of Loopy, marked by even more bizarre behavior.
(e.g. "I have climbed the Loopy tree.")
LOOPY FRUIT:
n. The final stage of Loopy, marked by the player's inability
to distinguish fantasy from reality. (e.g. "I have now climbed
the Loopy tree and am throwing Loopy fruit at all the people")
People in this final stage should be escorted to bed.
MAYNARD: n.
A hellish fusion of a doughnut and a leptic.
A TRULY clueless person.
NECRO-BILLY:
n. see Goobermancer.
NEWBIE: n.
A New Player. Unlike most environs, where such a title would be
used derisively, at SOLAR we love Newbies. This title is replaced
by Doughnut if you have been here for
a while and are still clueless.
PASS PACKET:
n. A poison or spell pack bound so tightly that it
could be used to drive nails or to gravel a driveway.
PEZ DISPENSER:
n. An Earth Caster who only casts healing and protectives and
does not cast offensively. (usually someone's significant other
OOP).
RED RAIN: v.
1) Overkill. 2) The effect of killing someone or something in
such a Gross and Heinous
manner as to reduce it to a fine red mist. (e.g. To call 20's
on a Kobold.)
RICKWOOD: n.
1) The overhang of one's belly. 2) Known also in the southern
United States as Dunlap.
ROLL:
v. To roll someone is to beat them down, usually by surprise.
see Kack and Gack.
SAMURAI
SHUFFLE: v. A victory dance. Generally performed by
members of Kasagi No Yuritomo's Rossanoe or allies of the former
Baron.
SUDBYR
TAKEDOWN: v. 1) To kill another player in plain site
of the town center. 2) To kill a PC without concern for who is
present. (e.g. To kill 5 half-ogres in the tavern on a saturday
during breakfast.)
STRETCH
MONSTER: n. 1) A frighteningly tall, lanky, effective
spell-casting monster. 2) ANY monster played by Stretch. See Douggernaut.
TAPPED: adj.
Most commonly, out of spells. Can also be used to describe being
out of Slays, Dodges, or ability to roleplay.
UBER-HEINOUS:
adj. More than Heinous than
Heinous.
WARD JOCKEY:
n. The poor sucker elected to raise and lower the ward
to a building.
WING-NUT: n.
l) A person who is slightly off-kilter. 2) One who is not in his
right mind. 3) A loon.
Well, there you have it you cheesy leptics.
The return of the SOLAR dictionary brought about to entertain
and enlighten you. I'm sure I've forgotten some, SOOOOOOOOO send
those SOLARisms in! Now I have to do the Kasagi
fade, I know a Cheeseball that is
about to experience an old fashioned Sudbyr
takedown.
