For one, in case anyone doesn't know, we raised approximately $2,200 at the raffle in January.  Thank you guys so much!!  Speaking of that $2,200, for those of you who have noticed our total hasn't gone up...the captains' meetings are always the Thursday before an event for some reason, and I was unable to go to the last one to turn in the money.  I will be attending the captains meeting in March, however.

Some people have expressed an interest in having another raffle (or possibly an auction) in March.  Keep this on your radar, as we may just do that. :-)

I am at work right now and do not have the dates in front of me, nor the time to look (will look it up after work) but I am going to try and come, last year was a blast, and I think it would be just as much fun to do it again this year.  Saying that, I will see what I can get together for an Auction or raffle, I should have some stuff that may go for a dollar or two.

The actual Relay for Life event this year is Friday night, April 23rd, 4:00 pm (I think) until dawn.  It's the Rockdale County relay, so it's held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.

As a reminder, we have a movie theme this year and encourage anyone who joins us to do the walk to dress up in a "Lord of the Rings"-type costume (because it's easy since we already play a medieval game...)  NO makeup, however, unless you're imitating a specific character in the actual movie and can actually pull it off.  (i.e. no fendari, drae, goblins, etc.)  If you don't want to dress up, please wear a SOLAR t-shirt.

Hope to see everyone there!  We had a blast last year and a huge turn-out; let's make this year even better!

This is probably a dumb question, but we're free to come hang out at the event even if we didn't sign up as an official team member, right?

Yes, and it is very much encouraged!!  Your physical support (i.e. showing up and walking with us) means just as much as monetary.  Also, bring cash for contests and snacks, all the proceeds the various teams get go to support Relay.

Last year Scott gave gob for coming and staying all night with us.  I'm sure there will be similar incentives this year :-)

Bah, I would like to come, especially since it's LOTR costume, but I have a bridal shower to attend the next day for my best friend. Cry

The second point was about the possible March raffle.  :-P  I just didn't say "for two..."

We had a poster board at events for awhile, but it got left in the rain and destroyed accidentally.  At the actual Relay, you can submit names of loved ones you've lost or survivors, and they scroll the names on a giant screen.

If anyone has names they'd like submitted, please email me at nerobben@gmail.com and I'll make sure they get listed.

Also, more on the March raffle...unless another team member wants to organize this one, I just don't have the time or energy to get it together right now.  My apologies to anyone who was looking forward to it.

Someone should photoshop a poster, and then I could print it.

Current Totals:

Money raised last year by our on-a-whim Team:   $1,313.00

Money raised so far this year: $3,407.00

WHOOT!  Thanks guys!!  And don't forget to stop by my mom's photography exhibit on April 17th.  Portion of sales proceeds plus a silent auction will go to support our Relay Team!  (and I know it's art, but there will be reasonably priced photos for sale, I believe in the $30 range, so come check it out!)
