Magic Item Cards and Temp/Per Event Cards

I'm probably missing something obvious here -- but if you have to carry the perm cards on you at all times (assuming you're carrying the item), why do we need to also have the temp cards?

Because you don't want to mark off per event usages on your permanent card.

Got it. The only thing that I've ever had that had any "per event" things in it, they had spell tags of their own. Dur. Makes sense. :-)
